People using automatic content duplicators to cross post from the bird place, maybe don't.

A lot of what you're generating makes no sense on here, including toot after toot after toot of Tw*tter handles that have been translated into Mastodon handles that don't exist. It's just noise. Lets not come here just to make noise. Lets interact.

Remember: those of us who fled the bird place now outnumber those who were here already. And we're filling their spaces with illegible garbage. Let's not.

@AnarComNet I was guilty of doing this myself until I realized that this is a wildly different (and more relaxed) place that deserves to have conversations catered to it.

Boosted for visibility, thanks.

@AnarComNet it didn't cross my mind. But do you know some guide what not to do? From technical POV what to write and not write will probaby be variating just like in any human interactions.
@ankapak I've seen posts, but I think it varies from server to server. I think just get to know your community. We're going to make mistakes. But we'll learn!

@AnarComNet thank you for saying this

ive been wanting to say something, but I have already been on a drive of saying about "celebrities" not making this place cool & also to 'fuck your crossposter'

its complete noise, pointless & only will alienate people & for others to not like the twitter crowd being here. which it shouldn't be like that

so thank you for saying something

@AnarComNet This is not to say “YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CROSSPOST FROM TWITTER *WAVE WAND*” — but rather “a good number of people are going to get sick of your Twitter crossposts and you may eventually get silenced or banned from servers for it, so watch what you’re doing.”
@josh @AnarComNet agreed on both posts.
I am *from* the bird app, but I don’t feel the need to cross post. There are occasional things I’ll xpost but some people who ought to know better are just begging for a block. ::sigh::
Let There be There and Here be Here. #yeesh
@AnarComNet surely it all depends on what content you’re putting on Twitter to start with? Some content translates perfectly fine.
@AnarComNet This has made me think. I may cancel my automatic duplicator and cross post things manually to see how it goes. It will take more time though.

@AnarComNet

It's OK when it's only original stand-alone tweets, but threads get cut up, replies lose their context, and quote retweets are indecipherable.

The tools for cross-posting I've seen allow one to disable the bird noise.

@buermann yes, it was the chains of Follow Friday account recommendations, and other stuff that didn’t make the translation. A stand alone post that makes sense in both places is fine.
@AnarComNet Personally I'm unidirectionally crossposting from Mastodon to Twitter cuz I'm less concerned about pushing noise to the hellsite. I mean, c'mon, who are we kidding: It's a dumpster fire over there anyway. 😁
