@blueteamgoon and do not use US date format, please. We have standards... literally.

(I may or may not be throwing shade over my current or previous or even future employers)

@blueteamgoon As long as your interface allows an easy way to display in local timezone (looking at you Oracle Cloud webpage).
@blueteamgoon And store your timestamps in Unix Epoch.

@blueteamgoon yep, UTC, ISO8601 please.

Or hex Unix time worksForMe too, easy to convert/reformat later.

@blueteamgoon ...... but DST!?!?!?

@lkarlslund @blueteamgoon

Local time, no time zone forevah!!! o/

@lkarlslund @blueteamgoon

Sorry, that was unhelpful. :) Couldn't help myself.

@tarheel @blueteamgoon quite okay, there's plenty of time for being funny
@blueteamgoon if I learned nothing else from @recon_infosec NDR training it was this!

@blueteamgoon Or at least be able to tell me what time zone the log follows. It's amazing how many people can't answer this basic question, or answer it incorrectly.

I am once again asking you to log everything in UTC.

@blueteamgoon As someone whose had to recently use time shift in wireshark I wholeheartedly agree
@blueteamgoon You're speaking my love language.
@blueteamgoon This also goes for your dashcam and any surveillance NVR. Use any overlay to state ‘Time/Date: UTC’.
@blueteamgoon yes please. Who isn’t doing this?
@dangerous In my experience, usually the network engineering team who are sharing their logs but don't understand how they will be used.
@blueteamgoon haha I see. When reading date times not in UTC, it gets so confusing to work with time zones.
