Back down to lower altitudes today, but nevertheless staring up at the heavens again.

The vaulted ceiling of the choir at the eastern end of the Berner Münster, complete with the city’s bear emblem in the middle, constructed in the mid-1400s.

@markmccaughrean oh wow! At first I thought this was an illustration, what a stunning photo!
@minimammoth Thanks – just a phone photo, but it came out nicely. The ceiling of the main part of the cathedral is even more ornate, apparently, but currently covered for renovation 🤷‍♂️
@markmccaughrean it’s amazing what gravitational lensing allows us to see.
@markmccaughrean Hej Marc, the vaults in the choir were finished in 1517, and the vaults in the nave even later in the 1570s. Enjoy Berne!
@mmvlct Thanks for the clarification, Manuel – I couldn’t find exact dates immediately, just that the choir itself was built in the mid-1400s. Last day in Bern now – stocking up on cheese at Chäsbueb & on my way home 👍
@markmccaughrean a wonderful plan! Have a save trip home, Mark!
