Once again involved in bringing the EJC (and associated circus skills shenanigans) to Ireland next summer.
I was previously involved in running the #EJC in Millstreet Co Cork (in 2006 & 2014).

The original plan was for #EJC2023 to be in Punchestown, but it's still unavailable. So instead there'll be 9ish days of fun & games in #Gormanston from July 29 to August 6 2023.

Plans are afoot.

@DToher Does this include Combat Juggling?

It's a niche sport that *actually works as a sport for watchers*, which I love. Too many niche sports are either pure spectacle, too ridiculous to be taken seriously (chess boxing), or fun only for participants, not the audience.

@TRiG yep - Fight Night at the EJC is the most hotly contested one in the world.
My favourite example is the Fight Night final at EJC2013 (in Toulouse) between Luke and Jochen (aka JJ).

We still haven't worked out what night it will happen on.

@TRiG it does work really well as a spectator and as a participant.
The final at the last EJC in Ireland - back in 2014 - gives an idea on the popularity of it at juggling conventions.

@DToher Ah yes, this is a video I've seen more than once before. Didn't know it was filmed in Ireland. Hadn't seen the 2013 one before.

Is the audience only jugglers, or is there a chance that interested spectators might get in just for that bit?

(Amusing that you use the name Fight Night. The sport I follow most closely uses "Flight Club" for all events outside the main contest cycle. See https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAh6we_yqvHGT0XJ6H8DGn7dij3pkUSMA.)

@TRiG I will be posting more info nearer the date about "local" arrangements (if I remember) - access for those who don't want 9 days of juggling and camping.
The @EJC account will definitely be posting about it.
@DToher Is it competitive? What level is required? (I'm just a basic three-ball juggler but I don't know any others)
@aidancurran it is open to all levels - with workshops for beginners through to for experts. Many of us have a go at new / different props in workshops.
There are some competitions (some that are taken seriously - such as Fight Night or Volleyclub, and some that aren't taken at all seriously - such as 3 ball Simon Says during games).
People are coming from near (Balbriggan) and far (Oz).
Depending on where you are I can point you to local jugglers

@aidancurran there are also a number of smaller Irish juggling / circus festivals. Tralee is a key one (just gone) - it's the National Circus Festival of Ireland, typically near Halloween. Galway, Belfast, Dublin, Cork have also been known to have them, but they can often depend more on venue availability.

During summer, many people gather in Merrion Sq in Dublin.

@DToher Ha! I'm from Tralee! But exiled in Dublin, so I missed that one. I'll keep an eye out for the 2023 convention - thanks!
@aidancurran Con Horgan runs it in Tralee - originally in the KDYS, now splits between multiple locations.
2-5 November 2023 has been announced as the dates for next year.
