“Several top privacy and security executives resigned from Twitter on Thursday, citing fears over the risks from Elon Musk’s leadership, in a stunning exodus that prompted federal regulators to warn they might step in. ….One current Twitter employee said several other members of the site’s privacy and security unit also had resigned”

Twitter’s already been fine $multimillion by the FTC

Twitter’s content moderation head quits as departures alarm the FTC

The resignations of three Twitter security executives prompted federal regulators to warn they might step in.

The Washington Post

2/2. When fines it was also made subject to consent decrees placing obligations on named individuals (? The team that walked out) to ensure privacy compliance and notification to the FTC.

Seems likely, with Musk’s latest blue tick wheeze that they are already in breach.

Hence walk out?

FTC are paying attention. It can fine $ billions.

Watch this space.

PS:Sorry to do this, but have just seen this. Looks as if other employment terms of service bust ups on the way.

“ A senior member of Twitter’s legal team just posted this message in Slack:“Everyone should know that our CISO, Chief Privacy Officer and Chief Compliance Officer ALL resigned last night. This news will be buried in the return-to-office drama. I believe that is intentional.”

“Twitter is a remote-first workplace, and has operated as such for years. It is a fundamental change to our employment contracts to require a 40hr a week in-office requirement. I do not, personally, believe that Twitter employees have an obligation to return to office.

“I also remind all Tweeps (at least in the US) that we have an unlimited PTO policy. All Tweeps are able to take PTO. Perhaps today is a good day to take some rest and recharge.”

“Over the last 2 weeks, Elon has shown that he cares only about recouping the losses he’s incurring as a result of failing to get out of his binding obligation to buy Twitter. He chose to enter into the agreement! All of us are being put through this as a result of his choices

Elon has shown that his only priority with Twitter users is how to monetize them. I do not believe he cares about the human rights activists, the dissidents, our users in un-monetizable regions, and all the other users who have made Twitter a global town square”

I worry about the plans to monetise our data - and in breach of consent decrees…and GDPR in the EU.

@Fascinatorfun I'm about 20% convinced that he bought it to destroy it because of the mass democratising effect it has on the world.

The remaining 80% of me is convinced he just stupidly rage-signed a contract mid tantrum, then spent a month trying to get of it, realised that would be even more expensive and now has absolutely no idea what he's doing.
