It wont work, it relies on scanning your twitter followers for mastondon ids referenced in their bio etc.
since you have closed your account it cannot do that scan.
I suspect you could reactivate your account to do it though?

@1505helen @EmmaKennedy is that why most of the posts I’m seeing have a “tap here” label? The problem I’m finding with that is that to read threads, I’m having to multi-tap which isn’t the best user experience. Maybe it’s a setting I need to change… #newbie

@jimbobk @EmmaKennedy if they have political or upsetting content there will be CW and hidden. It’s part of the Mastadon code and it’s what makes it different to the Twitter experience. Stops you getting triggered and reposting without thinking. So far I haven’t minded tapping to open content. I’m making a point of not boosting political posts that don’t have a CW.

Hi Helen. Perhaps you can explain pls? Many of us are here to discuss politics & associated news/developments. If I wasn't interested in ppl who discuss politics I just wouldn't follow them? The CW feature seems unnecessary (and irritating) to me. What's your beef with ppl tooting about politics, and why do you think that needs content warning? I personally don't like cat pictures but not suggesting those have a content warning?
Serious question. I'm not understanding?

@nutcracker @EmmaKennedy I don’t have ‘a beef’ with political discussion! I’m new here and I’m just trying to follow custom and practice set by those who developed the site! They don’t want it to turn into Twitter! If you read the guidelines for each instance you’ll find most of not all request you CW political comments. So far everyone I’ve engaged with on this platform has been polite and respectful…

I'm new also! I've checked the rules on my instance and there's nothing to say mark political discussion with a CW. My server is a general UK one.

I'm reading this guide on Mastodon.Help

Anyhow, I've marked my profile to reflect that I'll be mainly discussing politics - always respectfully - but maybe that'll help others to mute or block if they don't like 1/2

I do wonder if it's a bit of a hangover from mastodon maybe being a smaller, community server thing? For example, I find the local timeline an odd feature, but then if I was on a legal community instance maybe I'd get more utility. And on there political tooting may well be off-topic 🤷‍♂️

@nutcracker @1505helen @EmmaKennedy Have to agree with Nutcracker. If the trending topic is a hashtag like #pmqs the topic IS politics, therefore no 'content warning' required. Although personally I find it confusing and annoying used this way for political content that doesn't break the usual site rules. I thought it was a joke at first. I laughed out loud when I clicked 'sensitive content' and found a video of Starmer! 😂
