@EmmaKennedy Emma can you use your reach to remind people to use content warning on politics posts please?
If you search for #PMQs you’ll find lots of people aren’t. Let’s not turn this into a copy of Twitter.

Hi Helen. Perhaps you can explain pls? Many of us are here to discuss politics & associated news/developments. If I wasn't interested in ppl who discuss politics I just wouldn't follow them? The CW feature seems unnecessary (and irritating) to me. What's your beef with ppl tooting about politics, and why do you think that needs content warning? I personally don't like cat pictures but not suggesting those have a content warning?
Serious question. I'm not understanding?

@nutcracker @EmmaKennedy I don’t have ‘a beef’ with political discussion! I’m new here and I’m just trying to follow custom and practice set by those who developed the site! They don’t want it to turn into Twitter! If you read the guidelines for each instance you’ll find most of not all request you CW political comments. So far everyone I’ve engaged with on this platform has been polite and respectful…

I'm new also! I've checked the rules on my instance and there's nothing to say mark political discussion with a CW. My server is a general UK one.

I'm reading this guide on Mastodon.Help

Anyhow, I've marked my profile to reflect that I'll be mainly discussing politics - always respectfully - but maybe that'll help others to mute or block if they don't like 1/2

I do wonder if it's a bit of a hangover from mastodon maybe being a smaller, community server thing? For example, I find the local timeline an odd feature, but then if I was on a legal community instance maybe I'd get more utility. And on there political tooting may well be off-topic 🤷‍♂️
