Ah dang this is awful. Studio ZA/UM (the Disco Elysium people) got bought out, right? Which messed up their sequel plans, the actual creators got fired, whole mess.

Turns out the buy-out was likely via fraud, and now they're entering legal proceedings. https://medium.com/@artofrostov/to-fans-of-disco-elysium-concerning-the-situation-at-za-um-3e6bc46ea9c

@glassbottommeg This is why we can't have nice things. 😞
@glassbottommeg Whoa... that's wild. And this is on the heels of Mick Gordon's revelation. I'm rooting for them!

@EebieAbbyObie @glassbottommeg

To those who are not in the loop can you link us the mick gordon article please?

@glassbottommeg that's just sad. I honestly hope that all the people ZA/UM hired just this year are well. I know some from the birdsite and some quit their jobs or moved to the UK to work there. This sucks...
@glassbottommeg I almost bought this on a Steam sale the other night and ended up reading into all of this. What a mess.
@glassbottommeg wow, what a mess. When Kurvitz and Rostov got fired, it broke my heart.
ZA/UM felt like that sort of studio that's on track to become a stable in creative and high quality output, like Supergiant and others. Disco Elysium broke into my all-time top 5 like no questions asked.
If there's any chance for a rollback of last months' developments - that would make me very happy. Fingers crossed.

@glassbottommeg Oh wow.

Just straight up shuffling money around to steal ownership of a company.

Really hope the creators can win this, and not spend 3 years in legal battles.

@glassbottommeg Really hope they can get their IP back, this sounds like an awful situation all-around
@glassbottommeg I’m at least glad to finally have a clear explanation of what’s happening. I hope they’ll be able to get the company back.
