CNN reports that someone created a fake blue check Trump account on Twitter today, and it took Twitter two hours to shut it down. For those two hours, imagine the international damage the fake Trump could’ve caused. All of this was predicted. Elon Musk refused to listen.

@juddium @Aravosis it is even better than that, he fired programmers based on the number of lines coded, meaning he retained all the basic coders who could grind all day, but fired the specialists and problem solvers.

@Aravosis That is just irresponsible on a global scale.

I understand that a sane person in a sane world would see the parody for what it was -- but some of these people legitimately looked at drinking bleach to cure anything.

I'm rather shocked a few system admins haven't ground this dudes 'updates' to a halt and taken their chances with re-employment.

@Aravosis and what if there’s a fake Biden or other current officials on there? One would hope it would be obvious? But the havoc it could cause. The constant PR and national security nightmare. One wonders if there might be a silver lining to this — the US does EU regulation on social media. Sort of like when you get a contract from someone and you wonder why they have X clause — it’s because something bad happened once upon a time.
