John AravosisCNN reports that someone created a fake blue check Trump account on Twitter today, and it took Twitter two hours to shut it down. For those two hours, imagine the international damage the fake Trump could’ve caused. All of this was predicted. Elon Musk refused to listen.
Terra Wellington@Aravosis and what if there’s a fake Biden or other current officials on there? One would hope it would be obvious? But the havoc it could cause. The constant PR and national security nightmare. One wonders if there might be a silver lining to this — the US does EU regulation on social media. Sort of like when you get a contract from someone and you wonder why they have X clause — it’s because something bad happened once upon a time.
