Here's my morning takeaways:

1. The "red wave" is more like a "red sprinkle."

2. Too many voters in Florida, Ohio, and Texas prefer crappy representation (not news to anyone.) The rest of us need to help the good people there. They’ll need it.

3. Trump is an albatross Republicans just can't quit.

4) No red wave. Despite the media-concocted Dem “struggles" or "angst”, Biden has done very well, given midterm history.

5) Garbage media takes on New York's Hochul didn’t work. The crime scare was junk thanks to Ronald Lauder with a huge assist from New York Times.

6) Abortion and women's rights DO matter, despite the beltway's over hyped push to shove inflation and gas prices down our throats, 24/7.

7) Did I say no red wave?

The Republican “red wave” has turned into a ripple

Many expected a landslide victory for the right over the Democrats in the US midterms – but the voters had other plans.

@TonyStark We are thoroughly depressed here on Ohio. Hopeful watching the turnout of young voters.
@KatieY I’m sorry. I had high hopes for Tim Ryan. Great guy.
@TonyStark @KatieY , I am in VA… where a vest costumed liar has bamboozled enough of the locals to get elected and on his push and mandate they redistricted out Luria. We now have the anti abortion theft accused, Trumper …

@TonyStark Dems had some good wins. The ones that we lost weren’t a surprise, but Boebert losing…excellent! Oz losing…great!

And the biggest loser of all was Donald Trump.

@hereforasec @TonyStark I hadn't even known Boebert lost. That just brightened my day.

PA had me worried but pleasantly surprised. Still GA should not be as close as it is. Political leaning aside, no one can convince me that Walker is qualified, and that's saying a lot considering some past elections.

@ckenshin @TonyStark Our fascination with celebrities…ugh! 😊
@ckenshin @hereforasec @TonyStark Walker is a symptom of a huge problem and we need to figure it out. But we are decidedly not doing that...at least not in Georgia, and it's a big deal.
@ckenshin I'm not sure she has officially lost quite yet.
It's incredibly close and her opponent's lead has gotten pretty tight. @hereforasec @TonyStark
@JohnQuinnPublic @hereforasec @TonyStark from what I'm hearing it wasn't even supposed to be a toss up seat. So the fact she's even struggling is a win of sorts.
@ckenshin it definitely is a victory no matter what but there's a lot of folks on the bird site dunking on her as if she'd already lost. And that could really go poorly for folks if she wins. @hereforasec @TonyStark
@ckenshin @JohnQuinnPublic @hereforasec @TonyStark
Almost doesn't count in electoral politics.
@alanmilner @ckenshin @JohnQuinnPublic @TonyStark I’m crying 😭 Can’t wait for this to be over, but we’ll probably need a recount.
@TonyStark 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼Holding the House and Senate would be fabulous. It would be such a big kiss off to MAGA.
@smilingoutloud @TonyStark
While true, I’m very worried about DeSantis.
He has the same horrible views as Trump, but is more dangerous and calculated with his actions.
@SoxFan311 @TonyStark He another trump but without the marketing skills. 🤷🏼‍♀️
@TonyStark Appreciate the thoughts and prayers for us in Ohio 😔 Absolutely gutted about Ryan, but glad so many others did well, especially Fetterman, Hassan. Hard to believe OH purple days as recently as 2012 apparently so gone, but can't give up
@SusanH @TonyStark I was also disappointed to see how the Ohio Supreme Court race played out. I was hopeful that at least DeWine would not hold onto his seat, especially after failing to recuse himself in the redistributing case where his dad was the defendant.
@jackiegardina @TonyStark
Yes, the OHSC vote is probably the worst of all, maybe even worse than Vance. Not sure what path for redistricting scam to be made right with this result, but hopefully good legal minds can work on it
@SusanH @TonyStark @DavidPepper is on it! He is working on a new book that will be a handbook for reclaiming our democracy. He starts with actions Congress should take under the Guarantee Clause of the federal constitution. Of course, congressional action sounds like an oxymoron.
@jackiegardina thank you for helping me find David Pepper! 😎👍 @TonyStark @DavidPepper
@SusanH @TonyStark @DavidPepper He has a Substack newsletter now too. I don’t think he will be able to transfer his 2-minute whiteboard videos to this format but if you get a chance to watch them please do!
@SusanH @TonyStark
Never do, It is a fight worth for.
@TonyStark Because of the gutting of the voting rights act and gerrymandering that is the problem. Florida is horrible and Ohio isn't better. We have work to do. Thank goodness for all those who came out for democracy.
@SharG @TonyStark DeSantis and Rubio winning had nothing to do w/gerrymandering because they're statewide elections. I just live in a horrible state, but feel maybe we attracted right wingers from other states to help those states stay blue. So we're the sacrifice for the rest of the country.
How Ron DeSantis Blew Up Black-Held Congressional Districts and May Have Broken Florida Law

DeSantis’ move, secretly aided by GOP-linked national operatives, came over the objections of the Republican-controlled state legislature.

ProPublica
@SharG @TonyStark he's a typical right winger. Loves to break the law knowing there will be no consequence and then claim to be the law and order dude
@mariebell @TonyStark That is exactly who they are. We need the John Lewis Voting rights act.
@mariebell @SharG @TonyStark thanks for taking one for the team Florida 🙃
@TonyStark Great analysis! We didn't come out too bad. Warnock (GA) should have topped 50% against a totally unqualified idiot, but he'll win the runoff. Election deniers in AZ state races look to be mostly defeated. What's happened to OH? It used to be a swing state.
@richardb We need people to get over there. It’s really taken a turn for the anti-democratic.
@richardb @TonyStark Ohio is using voting maps the supreme court ruled illegal. So.
@renegade_nate @richardb @TonyStark doesn't explain Vance cruising comfortably to victory and DeWine curb-stomping Whaley...
@jlindborg @renegade_nate @richardb White Supremacy does.
@TonyStark @jlindborg @renegade_nate @richardb 💔 it's a definite factor but it's not everything

@TonyStark @jlindborg @renegade_nate @richardb It definitely does. Vance appeals to that all the time. I’m really disappointed this morning that he’s going to be my Senator. He’s full of hate.

He definitely goes for telling people “others” are coming to ruin their lives.

Ohioans would do so much better to elect Democrats who have real policies that would make their lives better. Tim Ryan is a man like that.

@TheNorthCoast @jlindborg @richardb @renegade_nate It’s also important to remember billionaire libertarian Peter Thiel spent 30 million dollars on TV to carpet-bomb Ohio with Vance ads. Unfortunately, that makes a difference.
@jlindborg @renegade_nate @richardb @TonyStark Whaley name rec negligible next to DeWine. I am clueless on Vance loss & gutted on it. I gave him money I didn't have but zero regret. Can only guess maybe he should have let Biden in? Not much support from DNC? Who knows 💔
@jlindborg @renegade_nate @richardb @TonyStark ha Freudian slip, couldn't make myself type "Vance WIN" apparently 😢
@richardb @TonyStark
Ohios population has grown old, white, and SUPER gerrymandered. They were supposed to get new maps but ran them up the courts and ran out of time. So fed courts ruled they had to use the old maps.
@TonyStark Also, in those Red states don't forget the incredible amount of gerrymandering done to dilute Democrats votes. In TN, for example, they split Nashville into 3 crazy districts and all of them went to R's. Andy Ogles who won my district is a real piece of work. In MI OTOH voters approved a non-partisan re-districting commission awhile back, which the Rs were unsuccessful in overturning & the whole state has turned blue. 1st time in 38 years both houses of the legislature are Democrats.
@janetate @TonyStark It's obviously too late, but the Democrats need to start playing to win as far as gerrymandering. It's crazy how relatively balanced the CA congressional delegation is given what a blue state it is

@janetate Yes, I mentioned Tennessee in a post a little later. Republicans literally drew themselves seats. We need non-partisan maps everywhere.

Ohio had a similar thing happen with fair maps and they’re still waiting to get to use them even though they approved them some time ago.

@TonyStark I've read that this is the 1st time since the Civil War that Nashville hasn't had a Democrat representative in Congress.
@janetate @TonyStark they gerrymandered the shit out of KS and Amanda Adkins still lost. There is evidence that suburban women don’t want abortion to be illegal and criminalized.
@TonyStark Were you surprised that Stacey didn't win GA?
@Magess A bit. There’s a lot of voter suppression there and a lot of people who have a hard time voting. Im sorry she lost but I know she has a lot to give still.
@TonyStark I'm surprised that Warnock got more votes than she did. Why would people not vote the whole ticket?
@Magess I suppose Kemp could be seen as somewhat normal for a white voter but perhaps Walker was a bit too far.
@TonyStark
Great analysis. In the State of Texas in particular (where I reside), the rural vote is overwhelmingly Republican. No particular reason other than fear and ignorance. They remain disenfranchised and clueless.
Nationwide, the biggest loser overall is the disgraced former president and his groupies.
Yes, it will be tough for Biden to govern the next two years, but my faith in the common sense of the United States voter is not totally lost.
@isturiz not to mention the rural Texas districts are co-mingled with just enough urban voters so that the urban voters are diluted
@swanksalot
Indeed. Gerrymandering in TX is a real nightmare. Both parties have abused the practice, but the GOP has turned it into an art form. My district looks like a seven head snake on the map 😩
@isturiz my brother lives in S Austin, I think Chip Roy is his rep because the district lines are just crazy (my parents have Doggett)
@isturiz @TonyStark maybe I'm clueless, but it's not a done deal yet. Ballot curing is needed in NEVADA. https://mobilize.us/demvictorynv/

@isturiz @TonyStark Same rural red pattern in California. Learning to speak to rural and hispanic voters is job one. Fix immigration— common sense gun reform, new jobs in renewable energy sector. Agriculture, water, and energy sectors desperately need reform, learn to speak to these issues rather than dodging them—
