Hello Mastodon

@centralbylines it would make sense for the bylines network to have its own instance under the bylinesnetwork.co.uk domain, so that it's easy to verify that the various outlets' accounts are genuine
@ilmari @centralbylines I second this idea. Though the overhead of running a mastodon server is kinda big.
@fasih @centralbylines there are several providers that will do it for a reasonable fee, e.g. masto.host
@centralbylines @ilmari @mikegalsworthy this makes sense to me. It would give bylines network control of federation (which servers you accept/block interaction with) as well as accounts created on it.

Thanks, we have also WhatsApped this thread to Mike and will have a think. Silly question does this mean we would have to start again? We only joined this afternoon and the whole picking a server part baffled us a bit.

To be fair none of the tech team were setting up the accounts!

@centralbylines @fasih @mikegalsworthy you can migrate all your followers and follows over to the new account once you've created it

@ilmari @centralbylines @mikegalsworthy it just means, that you would pick your own server hosted by yourselves to create these accounts. You can block other people from creating accounts on your server and only create the accounts of contributors yourself.

I think the only caveat is, you can’t migrate content. Just the followers. There is also a redirect feature for accounts.
