Building an aggregator for #ScienceMastodon. Let's you view multiple servers at once. Creating a list of all the science servers I know of. Please let me know of any others!

genomic.social
ecoevo.social
mstdn.science
fediscience.org
scicomm.xyz
scholar.social?

Any others?

Here's my current list:
genomic.social
ecoevo.social
mstdn.science
fediscience.org
scicomm.xyz
scholar.social
Tech.lgbt
Mathstodon.xyz
idf.social
types.pl
mastodon.elte.hu
red.niboe.info
sigmoid.social
med-mastodon.com
sciencemastodon.com
Thank you!
We use: drosophila.social

@josephguhlin

Also med-mastodon.com

Epidemiologists and some of #epitwitter appear to be there

@josephguhlin mathstodon.xyz for us math people (including many who apply math to science!)

@josephguhlin Here's a list of servers I created using a bot (it's about half the active fediverse, or was a couple of days ago): https://brontosaurus.computer/fediverse_instances.html

There are at least a couple in there that you don't have.

@john @josephguhlin I misread! First thought you said you'd created half the fediverse with your bot! 😆
@josephguhlin So... I joined mastodon.social.. what I don't understand is if i should move to a "science" one to see more science or stay on a "general" one and somehow subscribe to an aggregator of science to see that? Still rather confused about this.

@josephguhlin @ProfBatGirl well, there is a timeline with people you follow, that will give you science updates if you follow such people. There is also a "local" timeline from your server. If you have a certain niche interest, you might find that interesting (eg to find new people to follow).

It's a bit like picking email. And some servers have extra options (like icons). Oh, and some servers have specific rules, too...

@josephguhlin These should be in the mix:

hci.social
vis.social
fosstodon.org

@josephguhlin

astrodon.social for sure.

qoto.org is a popular STEM server.

@josephguhlin How this works? Do I need to do anything to be connected to other servers?
@josephguhlin this might be something I'm looking for
@josephguhlin mamot.fr (but mostly in french)
@josephguhlin bildung.social for education professionals (mostly German speaking).

@GermHunterMD I love the aggregator but I can't figure out how to incorporate it into my everyday usage of the Mastodon app. It seems more like a separate webpage to peruse, unless I'm missing something.

More importantly, I'd love to be able to choose which servers to follow. What if I want to follow a few science servers but also a few art servers?
