Hey #SEO peeps, and anyone else who might read this, the best way to keep up with people is to create lists and add people. Especially if you follow a lot of people. Otherwise, you'll miss out on conversations you may want to be a part of.

#FediTips

@jon I have one with all my news sources.
@jon I see how to create the lists. What's the easiest way to add ppl?
@Spacey I wrote down some ideas here: https://coywolf.io/mastodon-find-people
How to leave Twitter and switch to Mastodon

Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter has its users looking for an alternative. Many people are considering the decentralized and ad-free Twitter alternative, Mastodon. Here’s how to switch and migrate from Twitter to Mastodon.

@jon newbie question… how you create lists on the mobile app? I’m used to use every social on my iPhone for not being distracted when working on my laptop 🧐
@jon can you recommend a mobile client that supports managing lists? The official Mastodon app seems not to be capable of that.
@seoseb well, @ciaranoglesby recommends Metatext. Another alternative, which is what I do, is just to use the mobile web app in the browser. It's actually pretty good.
@jon @seoseb @ciaranoglesby I use it too, seems the best so far (although I am not sure how to enable notifications)
@jon maybe I've not got my head around things properly. I was thinking of putting people in lists as as an alternative to following so I'd sit down to catch up without seeing things twice. But it seems people have to be followed and not muted to show in lists.
@Dave42W correct. You have to follow someone to add them to a list. I'm sure that was an intentional design decision, the same way it's intentional that you can't quote boost, someone. I don't make the rules here 😀
@jon sorry I should be clearer.
As a new user it wasn't quite what I expected but I am impressed with the design thought and decisions around Mastodon which, when I take time to understand, are careful and wise.
For example if I didn't have to follow someone to put them on a list it would be a nasty way of avoiding people choosing to review follow requests.
@jon
Still wish you could import them into lists and not just your feed
