The .social for right now is just an onboarding instance. Everyone (who didn't pick a more tailored server to start) seems to be transferring within 3 days of joining - with exceptions to accounts who choose to remain for a large local instance/audience.
The journalists obviously need more time to sort. They were the ones who really established Twitter. They will be the ones who do so here.
