This will be the forth novel I queried. And yep... it's hell every time! I mutter "It's not about you. It's just the market / luck / etc" but it's the ideal method to trample one's heart and ego.
However: it is NOT about you. It's the whims of the market. Did I mention luck?

After the meeting, I went straight to "life is a meaningless prison of disappointment" and left the building to melodramatically place my manuscript on the ground and walk away.

@bobcorrigan It is different than querying. Better because you know that at least your agent believes in you! Worse because despite that, you worry that no one else will love the story of your heart, and then your agent will hate you too and your world will burn to ashes and why ever write another word and also CHOCOLATE.

@emilycolinauthor Is writing.exchange a server. Haven’t found all the server sites and have no idea how to switch between them. It’s all hit and miss so far!
@gee I think it’s what Mastodon calls an “instance,” which equates to a server. I could be wrong, but I think you join one instance/server, but you can interact with and see comments from all of the others, too. And then you can switch instances/servers if you want, and you don’t lose anything in the process. Don’t quote me on this, but it’s what I’ve gleaned so far!
