Recommendation for anyone looking for a new #scifi TV series: I’m really enjoying the adaptation of William Gibson’s “The Peripheral.” I’ve seen some reviews saying it’s confusing, but I disagree. The show doesn’t spoon-feed you the plot, but the world-building logic is sound #ThePeripheral https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2022/oct/21/the-peripheral-review-chloe-grace-moretz
The Peripheral review - Westworld creators’ new sci-fi is brilliant … if you can actually understand it

Chloë Grace Moretz stars in this bravura adaptation of a William Gibson novel, which is still immensely satisfying even if you have no idea what’s going on

@rachelcleves I keep meaning to start this, although I haven’t had the time to read the @GreatDismal series. The show looks amazing.
@rachelcleves I was joking with someone earlier today that it's kind of like mastodon, in a way: it's bit tough to grok if you're coming into it with fresh eyes, and their world consists of little parallel universes that can chat to each other.
@kboyd but hopefully our little parallel universes will be less deadly

@rachelcleves Yes, one would hope.

Twitter is the jackpot. Mastodon servers are the stubs. I guess any other social jumping pad works as a stub, too.

@rachelcleves sounds like it is faithful to the book then, it also didn’t spoon feed, at all!

@rachelcleves I've started reading the book and this quote from the article defines very well the feeling:

"no idea what’s going on"

@rachelcleves I keep meaning to read the book, and thanks for the reminder. I'll definitely check out the show after I do the reading.
@rachelcleves loved the novel, love the show
@rachelcleves I'll have to check it out!
@rachelcleves as a Sci-fi fan, Owen says likewise! 👍
@rachelcleves I agree about The Peripheral. If you haven't checked out Counterpart (also on prime), it ticks a lot of the same boxes and also has JK Simmons in it.
@rachelcleves Comparing the film to the book, it's so much more accessible. It's much easier to show than to describe, but they've also moved the action forward in the story to get people from the first episode. The first four episodes have been very good... eager to see how they pull off the rest of the story.
