Did you know that the European Union had an official Mastodon instance where only official EU institutions could open an account?

https://social.network.europa.eu/explore

No need to pay for a blue checkmark, accounts on this instance are, by definition, officials.

That’s Fediverse done right!

@ploum has, in present tense
@dudenas @ploum Thanks, that bugged me too.

@dudenas : sorry about that, that was only a typo (s and d are close on my Bépo keyboard) and it sadly changed the meaning.

It was obviously intended to be in present tense.

@dudenas @ploum fortunately we do have an edit button here :-)
@ploum I'm so bummed (but not surprised), that the ECHA does not have an account yet. Their information strategy is atrocious. Recently shut down a critical API and only announced the date to the members of ... *drumroll* ... a closed LinkedIn group.

@ploum Seems still to be active.

So not ‘had’, but ‘has’.
Right?

@antal : yes, an unfortunate typo
@ploum See, now that’s really cool.

@ploum "had"? So they moved to twitter? 🙈

(wouldn't be surprised)

@nichtsicher : no, it’s a very unfortunate typo. I mean "has" in present tense.
@ploum Also makes it very easy to know who to block and/or bully.

@ploum German Government Organizations can found at https://social.bund.de/explore

That's so awesome :)

@heine : that’s nice! German are always one step beyond when it comes to free software ;-)
@ploum And because it's the EU, they created the longest and most unwieldy sub-subdomain to host it, just to make sure only true bureaucrats bother typing it out ;)

@nw : that’s part of the european joke ;-)

@nw @ploum and it moves to a different domain for 4 days in each month.

Anyone know of any US MoCs who have Mastodon accounts?

@ploum they also have a peertube instance for videos: https://tube.network.europa.eu/videos/recently-added?s=1
EU Video

EU Video is the official ActivityPub video platform of the EU institutions, bodies and agencies (EUIs). Together with EU Voice, it is part of an alternative social media pilot program proposed, and provided by the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS). The pilot program contributes to the European Union’s strategy for data and digital sovereignty that aims to foster Europe’s independence in the digital world.

@ploum Wow. I hope this is just the beginning!
@ploum does anyone here know how to save posts for future reference? Don't want to follow all of them but it could be useful to look them up sometimes.
@ploum That is just fascinating.. Thanks
@ploum Est-ce qu'un jour on verra une telle chose sur un site gouvernemental français ? Non ! (malheureusement 😅).
