What are thoughts on an #rstats, #datascience, or #openscience specific instance? I'm not volunteering, but was just curious if there are any discussions along this vein.
@jhollist I've only been here a few days, but Fosstodon feels like a great choice for me, since I’m interested in other open-source software in addition to data-specific topics.
@smach @jhollist I was thinking the same things and am starting to think about migrating over to fosstodon. Is it easy to do?
@SwampThingEco @jhollist My experience here is *extremely* limited so far, but here's what the docs say
https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/moving/#migration
Moving or leaving accounts - Mastodon documentation

Take your information and do what you want with it.

@SwampThingEco @smach @jhollist nice summary of required steps is here and worked great for me:

How to migrate from one Mastodon server to another without losing followers:

1. Sign up on new server
2. On NEW server: Go to Account -> Moving FROM another account
3. Enter old account's handle
4. On OLD server: Go to Account -> Moving TO another account
5. Enter new account's handle and submit

@jeremy_data @SwampThingEco @smach I will be migrating at some point. Still mulling several options. I'd be interested in an #rstats or #openscience instance if one existed!
@jeremy_data @SwampThingEco @smach I have an account set up there already. Feels like a good choice.
