"Sorry, you can't have it without the cat."

The young dragon made a distressed noise; this was supposed to be a spectacular addition to her still growing hoard, not a pet exchange!

"Does the cat have to stay alive for long," asked the dragon, as the small purring feline perched contentedly on the golden statue.

"At least a decade."

"Oh, is that all? Deal!"

In the end, the cat lived considerably longer under the dragon's care.
