Welcome to #Mastodon!

Here are a few resources to get you started.

1. A great intro: https://wordsmith.social/elilla/a-futuristic-mastodon-introduction-for-2021

2. Follow many people, and follow people they follow, from many different instances, to feed personal and your instance's federated timelines. It's easy to un-follow later. Use boost often.

3. Use #hashtags! There is no algorithm selecting "top posts" for you; instead, trends are built on hashtags. Also, Likes and Boosts work different:
Like ==> Read Receipt.
Boost ==> Like.

A futuristic Mastodon introduction for 2021:

Focusing on things that come up frequently and I don’t see explained that often. Here’s the lede: You can’t ever see or search everythin...

elilla & friends’ very occasional blog thing
@thilo must admit I am a bit overwhelmed… so far I am having a hard time finding #mentalhealth #restorativejustice #occupationaljustice or other ideas I follow … did find a few writers. I will have to keep trying as time permits

@ClaudetteOT Worry not, you only just joined Claudette, just go calmly and take your time. There is no competition and no need to rush 😀 There's also no recommender algorithm, building your network takes a bit longer.

If you already found a few good people to follow, check out who they follow, respectively - if they have been around longer they might have built a bit of a network already. If they are active you could even tag them and ask for who else to follow. Don't worry, you'll get there.
