13 members of Scientist Rebellion are currently glued to a car inside a BMW showroom in Munich, demanding the immediate decarbonization of the transport sector. #UniteAgainstClimateFailure

In a demonstration against greenwashing, papers and posters related to transportation in Germany have been glued to the walls of the building and black paint was sprayed. The coalition #UniteAgainstClimateFailure is currently making three demands from the German government (2/10)
We demand the German government publicly admit climate failure and that we will not limit warming to 1.5ºC - people's lives are at risk, and the government must admit #ClimateFailure. (3/10)
The coalition also demands the German government to act on this failure by immediately taking steps to decarbonise the transport sector. Specifically, introduce a speed limit cross Germany's autobahns and resume the successful public transport 9€ ticket. (4/10)
This is Scientist Rebellion's fourth action in Bavaria. Víctor de Santos, @ScientistRebel1, explains "Technology is not going to save us. Electric cars are not going to save us. (5/10)
As scientists we know how enormous the challenge is, and we know the public is seeing the effects of the climate emergency. We are here to say no to Government failure and their refusal to protect lives." (6/10)
Many car manufacturers mislead the public by systematically underrating the life-cycle emissions of their vehicles. BMW's emissions, in particular, are 80% higher than declared (September 2022 report by the European Federation for Transport and Environment). (7/10)
In the Paris agreement, nations committed to keep global warming below 1.5C. This is impossible without transport decarbonisation. Dr. Lauranne Gauteau says “We’re never going to meet it (1.5C) anymore. It’s a lie. So now we need to tell the people what’s going on." (8/10)

We are scientists, calling for a climate revolution. Our climate reports and warnings to humanity haven't worked, so now we are taking non-violent direct action

@ScientistRebellion Sorry but your theory of change seems ignorant and your elevation of solely principles of anti-violence seem erasure of other practical tactics and centuries of legitimate praxis. The concentration of energy in xr's governance seems misguided and ultimately unsustainable
' seems there are much needier, and more effective climate justice fund recipients

Good luck

@ScientistRebellion Got your basic message and only can support it. But: This car was already ugly before - people buying it anyway won't listen to you. Would you consider to choose an average SUV next time? Very popular at young middle class helicopter parents to carry their children to school safely every day, to offer them a bright future...
