I feel like I, upon discovering Mastodon, found the total, like, 5โ€“6 people I wanted to follow and've just stuck with them for the last 3 years so I don't know how effective asking the greater Fediverse will be but

Does anyone know of any artists on here who either can do ASCII art or, while not the medium they usually inhabit, are willing to give creating it a try? 'Working on an all-text video game and could use someone who's open for commissions, right now.

@WammKD there's a friend of mine who does ASCII art: https://www.instagram.com/dwimmertxt/
I don't know if they do comissions, but I like their work very much : https://16colo.rs/artist/dwimmer

@shapr

Oh, nice; their work is /really/ impressive. Yeah, hard to tell if they do commissions but thanks a ton for pointing them out. I'll dig around and see!

@WammKD

I am confident in my ability to whip up some ASCII art: I am an artist, old enough to be well acquainted with the medium, and also good with lettering design so titles particularly will be a strength.

@Cerulean

Awesome! I'm sure any video game'll need, at least, a few title cards so that's really handy.

What's your process for handling commissions? Just so I know what I should do for working with you?

@WammKD too tired to draw... boosted...

@sapoverde

Heh, entirely understandable; thanks for helping spread it around!

@WammKD Oh, we might be able to do that! We're pretty good at regular pixel art, done a little bit of ASCII art before too.

@frostwolf

Cool! I'd been thinking, actually, that a pixel artist might have a decent time at it, considering both are working with individual "units" to make up the final piece, if you will, but couldn't find a decent way to look at Pixel artists on the Fedi; plus it was hard to tell who was open to commissions and wasn't, etc.

@WammKD Don't have much of a process yet, honestly โ€“ it's basically "tell us what the thing is, if we think it's feasible we go and do it and email the results, and then once it's done you pay us"!

@WammKD ask the #DemoScene people maybeโ€ฆ

Right, ascii.

Amiga, or ... the lesser ascii? ๐Ÿ‘ถ

Does ansi come into the picture?

And, well, hmm. Ascii folks are an interesting bunch. Ansi as well. They run the gamut of political views a bit more widely than your tyoical artists, which tend to be a bit more 'left.' So I need to be careful here in linking anyone... but can probably ping titan... if 'block' ascii (pc) or ansi...

that said, south america has a bunch of folks and maybe I ping @uctumi to see if he knows any who might jump on it...

The function is procedurally created using random numbers and appears in the status text. Coordinates are coloured either by where the value appears within the range of results (the "gradient" scheme) or simply by whether it is the most common result (white) or not (black) (the "onebit" scheme.) The code does not resort to evaluating a string.
