Schloss Schaumburg above Balduinstein at the Lahn river (Rhineland-Palatinate) was originally a hilltop castle that was only mentioned in 1197, but was probably 200 years older.
Archduke Stephan of Austria owned the castle from 1847 to 1867 and had it rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style.
