Namedy Castle in Namedy (on the Rhine, in the municipality of Andernach, Rhineland-Palatinate) is a moated castle that has been converted into a palace; its oldest parts date back to the 14th century. The dates on the façade give an insight into the building’s subsequent development. It has been owned by the von Hohenzollern family, an ancient noble house, since 1909. The Hohenzollerns still live in the palace today.

The palace in Schwerin (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern).
Construction of the former main residence of the Dukes and Grand Dukes of Mecklenburg-Schwerin began in 1560 and was completed in 1857 in the Neo-Renaissance style.

Eltz Castle near Münstermaifeld (Rhineland-Palatinate), dates from the 12th century; it was never conquered by force. It has been owned by the Eltz noble family for over 800 years.

Paffendorf Castle near Bergheim in the Rhein-Erft district (western Germany) with its park. The castle was built in the 16th century and remodeled in the 19th century in Renaissance style.
