I now have several Mastodon accounts; here on cybre.space, but also on queer.party, mastodon.art, and roleplayers.bub.org. What do you do with different accounts? Are they like different identies (work you vs gamer you vs creative writer you)? Are they doors to the same thing, with different local crowds? Are they separate like social medias that have a common public channel??

@ecgarrison you can do... what you want ;)

all of those interpretations are good!

@ecgarrison Depends how you want to use them, I guess. Some people have public and private accounts; some have multiple “aspects” for different kinds of posting. Some just keep backups for use when an instance goes down. But structurally, it’s probably most likely doors with different local crowds - or maybe different neighbourhoods in the same city
@ecgarrison I have one where I deal with my hobbies (this one). I have one where I can be me fully. And I have one where I can be me, and let off some steam.
