If you've been following me for a while you know I've been sounding the alarm about the rise of American fascism for years. It is important to underline that Roe v Wade isn't just about pregnant people's right to choose. It is the spearpoint of a larger RW⚪️⬆️ project to attack literally everything that does not support their hegemony.
~
Here's the thing, they have been chipping away at it year after year, aided and abetted by those of you who told leftists, Communists, Indigenous folks, LGBTQ people, Black communities, etc that we were exaggerating and just to "vote harder." I need you to understand that this moment is not a moment in isolation. I need you to understand that in order to heal we have to acknowledge when we have been in error & not just gloss over it.
~
But whatever you were doing before this point, it's time to get on board. If there's someone in your life who has been the strident one that you ignored, hit them up to say "I'm sorry, what do we do now?" They'll be grateful, & they'll at least know where to start💖✊🏾

Maybe this will get everyone off their asses to pass a comprehensive law that in addition to explicitly legislating the basis for these rulings will incidentally bring the US into the modern global internet age.
@aaravchen @focusedoninfinity if women had equal rights under the constitution, it would be a non issue, because it's a violation of the first and fourth amendments, the separation of church and state, and the inalienable rights afforded by the constitution.
@aaravchen @focusedoninfinity Unfortunately, the only way such laws can be passed without being blocked is to vote in more liberals while kicking out conservatives. Voting is our only option now.

@Humble_Novice_2022 @aaravchen I disagree strongly on a number of grounds, but the most inarguable is this:

We vote at most once a year, more often every two or four. What, exactly, are Black, indigenous, poor, immigrant, LGBTQ, and other people suffering right now supposed to do in the interim? Pray?

Many great thinkers have debunked the idea that Justice can wait for due process, but I need only direct you to Martin Luther King and his admonitions against telling someone that there is a "more convenient season" for that which they urgently need.

@focusedoninfinity @aaravchen If civil disobedience is our only recourse to bringing justice, then it would have to be coordinated on a scale so massive that not even the GOP, wealthy elite, or police forces could contain it. With Roe v. Wade on the chopping block, I definitely believe it could happen now.

In case you're referring to a second civil war, then I'm not sure what to think. While it may prove without a doubt that meaningful change is not possible without bloodshed, no doubt there would be plenty of sacrifices and turmoil involved along the way.
