Why are some people in the #gamedev industry so much into #NFT ?

I would assume that if you're exploring developing an idea around that tech, you would quickly realize how scammy that is.

The way of making games around accumulating capital and squeezing as many dollars from players as possible is kinda contrary to the main goal of making games: giving players a satisfying experience 🤷

@davemakesgames it seems for many its a way to get investment. current project partners (like me) think NFTs are a scam, but they report how their other acquaintances managed to get 8figure funding *with no code* by presenting an NFT idea :/

I've heard similar stories of people taking NFT money to fund their startup. With the expectation it won't go anywhere soon if at all and it'll fund their main business.

@walter4096 I do get that. I respect the hustle, but I honestly believe it's not only a wrong focus but also morally questionable.

We are confronted with a lot of moral decisions in our industry. But selling people snake oil to fund our own business doesn't seem like the way to me.

The focus should be on new business models, more collaboration, and political pressure.

Democratic workplace -> Fair pay, collaborative funding amongst studios, and we need a lobby to help with public funding. ❤️

@walter4096 Also, pitching NFT concepts to investors and then somehow managing to drop the NFTs mid-project. That would be rad! 🔥
