ça tisse ... ça démêle ... #theworkshop #someproject #fablab #puredata
Prêt (non?) pour une présentation du prototype ... #theworkshop #someproject #fablab #puredata
what a relief when you finally get the bugs down: this Bela.io dev environment is really not made for "realtime patching" like #puredata is initially made for, you have to work like if it was C with prints and error reports everywhere, save, upload, pray, read errors on the console, patch again, etc ... the cycle is very impractical, and given the limitations of the board I'm not sure it's the best solution for sample based work ... but hey, now "it works(tm)" and I'm relieved (for this part ;p)

So I tested an Olimexino A64 here and it works well with #puredata ... probably better in -no-gui mode for performance and installation as usual (like with Raspi too) as the interface is causing dropout but the processor is pretty powerfull at the base to keep up with audio, and the included DAC/ADC is great (as in "not needing external shield/soundcard" )

probably will stick to that for this project ...

so on this board, the gpio's are not directly available to #puredata but the #python object (https://github.com/grrrr/py - already installed or available through Deken in pd) with the pyA64.gpio module will let you ... https://pypi.org/project/pyA64/0.1.0/
it needs a bit of preparation : programming a script to configure the ports, or directly in pd accessing the module... but seems doable without too much work. and it lets you install any other externals, like pduino for more hardware control ;)

I have it back in the workshop for more sound effects and probably alternate output (jack and fm radio ;) ) #theworkshop
Weerklank Merksem presenteert : De Public Sampler

The Public Sampler is an instrument to record and playback sounds on location. Sounds move from place to place. Various people make a spontaneous compostion. Things vibrate, get louder and repeat themselves. Voices emerge and fill the space. A project from Social Recordings in colloboration with Merksem Dok. @Olm_e Nice! Did you ditch the Bela in the end?
@wendy this one is still with the bela, I'm working now on another version with the olimex A64
@Olm_e Nice. Is it easy to port the libraries for sensors?
@wendy I'm using an arduino with pduino/firmata for now, will take a look at the gpio python lib later... I've to remap all the in/out but that's ok ;)
so I'm not using the Trill on that one for now (we also decided not to buy from england due to the complicated border that delays things too much ... )
@Olm_e fancy!!!
@wendy thanks ... it was also fun to play together with your sampler in the same room ;)
@Olm_e coooooolll!! I hope it behaved. Must really redo the electronics.. 🙄
@wendy yes it went without a glitch, better than the one I made still having some soldering issues ;)
