Placing my keys on the bowl beside the front door, I kicked out of my boots and then shrugged out of my jacket hanging it up. The lamps in my house were on timer, so that I never walked into the dark. It was something Ma had told me once.

Taking my phone out I scrolled my playlist, finding the song and hitting play.

The song had been stuck in my head all night, I’d even been humming it to my wolf as we watched the pups play their games on the Xbox.

Throwing the phone on the bed, I pulled my hair up into a messy bun I went to the bathroom to face up and brush my teeth.

The window was still open, and when my gaze went out the sound of rain became the backing track for the music.

Watching the pups playing and singing has my lips curled up into a smile. ( Something they wouldn’t see. )

People who had a pull towards the arts, they had this look in their eyes, the way they become lost in the moment. And to see the pups in that trance was the reason for the smile.
