ok hear me out: what if libraries, but for everything
@dankwraith I don't want to have to return my wife after two weeks :(
@dankwraith hmmm sounds a liiiittle socialist... not sure

@dankwraith place i live in has a "tool library" and apparently workspace for folks to work on projects in

Need to check it out at some point...

@tinytoydragon @dankwraith yeah there are lots of tool libraries in Portland too! The one I’ve been to was neat, and the volunteers were super friendly. Borrowed a saw and clamps, etc

@dankwraith That Metalocalypse bit but in reverse

"I believe this is called 'groceries store'??"
'It's called a Food Library, ya douchebags!!'

@dankwraith @extinct p sure mr rogers visited a community borrowing center!! There was like kitchen stuff but also toys for kids. And some furnitures? Idk it seemed great im mad its not everywhere
@Hi_cial @extinct "community borrowing center" is a very blessed combination of words
@dankwraith @extinct yeah!!! They checked stuff out using a catalog system obviously modeled off library
@dankwraith what if libraries, but they were totally free, required no membership card, and have no due times because that's painfully arbitrary when what you're sharing is files
@dankwraith call back to my student who for every thing in government and life said 'librarians should do it' cause librarians are great
@dankwraith this is how I normally explain what socialism would actually look like to liberals and it works pretty well! It's just a good idea like why does everyone need their own tools, kitchen, etc.
@dankwraith long years ago I tried to get my friends to bring all their DVDs they were tired of owning to trade for others they might want to watch.
I could never get it started, but the basic pattern is good.
I'd like to create friend group swap meets for all sorts of items. It's sort of unofficial libraries, and also gets unwanted items out of your house.
@dankwraith A teacher tells you what to do. A librarian asks you what you want.
