Migrated my business email from GSuite to Zoho Suite. It was seamless. So far so good.

@null0x0 @tshrinivasan Not sure what the context here is. But in case it is related to FOSS, zoho is equally (if not worse) evil.

In fact I would go to the extent of saying that I trust Google more than Zoho. Google does support plenty of FOSS projects, GSoC, etc. Plenty of googlers will protest if they do something evil intentionally.

Zoho otoh is a Indian company with zero legal privacy protection, whose founder encourages casteist groups.

Sorry for intruding.

@psankar
I moved away from Google Suite because I wanted to not because of any particular reason. I never said anywhere that I stopped using Google services(yet). I am not here to make judgements or commentary on business practices. I do what I want to do and based on my own reasons/decisions. That's all.

Since it was boosted by @tshrinivasan and since you are on mastodon I thought that you may be a supporter of FOSS and so that is why you moved out of google. That is why my disclaimer "in case it is related to FOSS" in my original toot. No intention to be judgemental about your migration :)

Peace.

@psankar
Oh okay! No issues. I do support FOSS Software as my choice of OS for anything other than Gaming/Streaming is Linux and I try to market FOSS software where ever I can.

Zoho is founded by Indian guy but is headquartered in US. They have to follow Privacy compliances for each country they operate in so it's not bad. They have GDPR compliance as well. @tshrinivasan

Yes. This is what I meant. In India, there are no decent privacy laws. So we would get no protection from Zoho. Google OTOH has privacy in its ethos. They might make money of your data, but has strict processes to prevent employees from accessing the data.

@psankar @tshrinivasan it can be argued but for sensitive communication I don't use any of the above mentioned services. I prefer Protonmail or Tutanota with PGP encryption. For Messages Signal.
