Finally landed on an alternative to using google as my default search engine. The screenshot is my default browser page, which is made using TiddlyWiki. Frequently visited sites are put into the main section (a "tiddler"). Kiwix search allows me to run local searches on downloadable databases (including wikipedia snapshots!!) without even going online. There's a couple of alternative search engines using the Bing index as a last resort.

My other tiddlers allow me to integrate notes/reminders with bookmarks. All of this is contained in a single .html file that is very easy to maintain/modify.

This "workflow" disconnects from any direct use of google search completely.

I am 100% likely to recommend @Tutanota as a Gmail replacement. VERY happy with the service. If you're ready to #deGoogle #unGoogle or say #ByeGoogle, this is an excellent and impactful place to start.

As of today we have shut off all AdSense ads on the website. They are just gawdy and honestly do not generate any real revenue to help run the site. We will only be running Linux Foundation affiliate ads.

We’ve finally made the move we’ve been planning for a long time: away from Google (which we used primarily for mail services). The transition to Proton for Business was much easier than we thought (though if we take suspiciously long to reply to your email… it might not have gone so smoothly 😅).

Yes, we may be paying a little more now, but knowing that we are no longer supporting a company whose values and actions we often disagree with is definitely worth it.
