I'm so confused about which crisis to prioritise now: my home state burning, Kashmir, the possibility of NRC nationwide in India, the global resurgence of the far-right, India's spiralling economy, gender wars and women's safety, climate change... Sigh.
No wonder I feel like exiting human civilization and society, going to a remote part of the hills and meditating.

@hackiechan Dammit this would have worked if you didn't care so much.

#monkeybatt

@hackiechan Though the question to which fires you can put out.

Either look at fires which are the closest to you or you are the most equipped to put out.

Plus clearing a way for the fire to burn and putting a bomb in the fire are also perfectly legitimate techniques to put out a fire.

Plus going to a hill is actually a good strategy. You can't fight anymore if you get burnt out by the fire.

Plus you ain't alone in this firefight.

@Vishsai I can't put out any of these fires. They are way way bigger than me. I can merely add fuel to counter-fires at best. And that's what is hard - I'm having to go against my individual nature which always likes putting out fires, to instead stoke counter-fires.

@hackiechan See that's exactly how you put our large wild fires. You purposely create a fire and burn down parts of the area so even when a wild fire occurs it can't spread and it dies off as a small fire.

Plus Wild forest fires are the nastiest and it can change its direction with the wind. So do pour more fuel as you will definitely help putting out the big fires.
And you need to be a crazy courageous idiot to be doing that and you are a natural at that.

@Vishsai I'm not a crazy courageous idiot at all. I'm a reclusive, academic, highly sensitive, deep-thinking creature who is being forced to act like an online Rambo because Conscience.
Getting fried and burned out each day that I play this Rambo character. I don't think I'm the only one in this position - lot of generally peaceful people are getting completely fried with what's been happening and the actions they're having to take as a result.
In war, only the war-lords survive.

@hackiechan Well we are facing the biggest fire of our life time. And being a reclusive, deep thinking, highly sensitive person you are a Rambo who is actually thousand times more courageous than people who jump into it without thinking.

Rambo knew what he was getting into but still did things because it was the right thing to do. He has been through that hell and survived and could have had a quiet life yet choose to fight just like you.

@hackiechan Yes you have your doubts and yes you will get burnt. And yet here you are doing what you can regardless of all that. So please do keep fighting and yes even Rambo had to take a break a go to a monastery.

And you may feel you are alone and you are getting crushed but like Rambo you are not alone. There are and always will be people who will help you even at your worst.

So you are doing an amazing job already. Believe in yourself.

@Vishsai You have such relentless energy! Almost like a battery re-charger for other human beings. :)
I'm glad you're there.

@hackiechan Thank you. Am just an ordinary person who listen and sees things a bit differently. And those are my skills which I can use right now.

The same way I'm glad you are here. Because you possess knowledge which we don't and you present it without bias.
Trust your words and knowledge. They have an explosive fire power and can help fuel others.

@hackiechan
Yes, that is why we all need to be with people who share our vision of the world. When you realize you are not alone, it does recharge you.
You need to actively seek such people and consciously build a network.

And like how elephant does not know its power. I see the biggest challenge to us is our lack of confidence in our powers.

@Vishsai

@hackiechan And War doesn't decide what's right, it just shows who is left. But this right here where people are helping and supporting each other irrespective of caste, religion, region, privilege or gender fighting for our motherland and it's people. That is the RIGHT thing.
@hackiechan the mountains are really cold right now. Snowing everywhere. Look for samandar instead.

Exactly the same thoughts in my head as well @hackiechan And you are right, all of these fires seem to be way above my individual capabilities to fight. So, we join wherever we are able to, do our bit in speaking to as many people as we can.
But for now, I am looking forward to my 10 days in the hills starting next Monday. Escapism maybe - despite this being planned 9 months back - but the down-time is needed.

@musafir @Vishsai

@Samyukth
Don't limit yourself to individual capacity, that is the trap we are all getting into. Actively seek people who share our vision and build movements. We have access to technology, good education and if we don't take the lead to bring people together, then who will? Giving people hope, reminding people of the history of human race, the things we achieved, all are important.
@hackiechan @musafir @Vishsai

@praveen Yes, of course. Doing all of that. Taking part in protests and speaking to people trying to make them change their views. The latter is real slow going - we are unable to make any significant progress which is frustrating. The obtuseness of so called educated folks is just impossible to digest. I reckon that this is a journey that will take time. Count that toot as a frustrated rant, nothing more.

@hackiechan @musafir @Vishsai

@Samyukth haven't followed your conversation entirely. but I do believe this is a very valid concern. pushback has to happen every day, every hour. it s a work in progress and we need to form a broad coalition against MoShah who are, indeed, diabolical. without getting into details of who is opposed against this govt s policies and how much more or less than us. It is a looong haul and we shouldn't fool our (urban naxal) selves that protests are widespread and consistent yet.

@Samyukth
As much as I admire the courage of the people standing up, it is inspiring, what worries me is this lack of patience. I wonder how long people will remain charged up, as it is going to be a slow and long process. It does require a lot of patience. I hope more people realize the change is going to be slow.

@hackiechan @musafir @Vishsai

@praveen The lack of patience is understandable, IMHO. Look at it like this - it didn't take more than a few years to galvanise the negative elements within a large section, right. So there is an natural expectation that the reverse process would also be quick. Except that it is quite easy to roll a rock into a deep pit, just takes quite a bit longer to pull it back out (and a lot more effort as well).

@hackiechan @musafir @Vishsai

@hackiechan all the crises you mentioned are interconnected. We need to find the right spots and hit there together.
@ninad They are indeed inter-connected, which is why all of them hit nerve-centers together in many people of conscience and consciousness.
One would have to shift the core centers of power in society to address them all together. Few of us understand who/ what those core power centers are. Many of us feel comfortable with the benefits and safety they provide (e.g., capitalism, political centralization, gender roles, all in their current form).

@hackiechan

Don't!! For, that is precisely what snoopy wants us to do! Light up a still-bigger firecracker while the earlier ones burst, spread the canard that others did it & pepper the media with the fake news that ONLY HE can fix it all, don't you see!!

We should catch him by the scruff of his cowardly neck & chuck him into the Arabian Sea!

@hackiechan this might sound naive but: if you trust everyone to play to their strengths, and you *focus* on playing to yours, there's a chance you'd feel less torn.

of course this is easier said than done! Take the time out, go to the hills, do what you have to :)
