I used to differentiate between Hindutva and Hindu but i don't think i shall bother any more. If Hindus don't believe in RSS fundamentalism and bigotry, they should stand up and say so.

@ranjona I believe we need to leave the space for not two but three distinct groups of Hindus.

a. Those who want a Hindu supremacist state
b.those who don't
c. those who feel Hindus should be privileged in some way but coexist peacefully with others and don't agree with the methods of (a).

While being (b), I see a whole lot of older folks I know, being (c).

@ranjona @sandipb hush! A few of us are bald ;)

The gradual conflation of Hindutva and Hinduism with the former standing in as a synonym for the latter needs a better thought out response. Asking someone in majority to share power for an equitable society is indeed asking them to do a hard thing. As for the listing of what kinds are present - that's probably a good theoretical exercise and just that.

@sankarshan @sandipb and yet this "sharing" is the only way democracy can function. I agree it needs work. It's just i will no longer pander to the myth that Hindus are not complicit in the Hindutva agenda.

@ranjona I agree with you on the myth making. Whoever is still trying to have exposition on the "not complicit" is basically trying for a moral position that is no longer available. I have always said that it was never available and the attempts were a fig leaf. But those were the times when we discussed about how "the fringe is growing"
