If you're looking to understand Neoliberalism with an analogy, think that you have two kids...

Under Socialism: You would feed, clothe, educate and love both equally and when they are old enough, kick them both out of the house to work..

Under Neoliberal Capitalism: You would take a bet that one is going to be more successful than the other, so you feed one to morbid obesity and the other to skin and bones and then wonder what went wrong and blame Socialism.

In the second case, you'd also lobby to shut up people who would advice you to not to feed your obese child and instead feed him more. Then blame socialism again.
