Interesting to hear that team #TrekSegafredo has opted for one-by drivetrains for today's #ParisRoubaix. Mads Pedersen has been riding the SRAM's RED AXS in a one-by configuration pretty much from the start of the season, with a 12-speed cassette. One potential reason for mechanics less is always a plus on #cobbelstones. #cobblefever
With Alexander Kristoff and riders on #Specialized bikes opting for #tubeless set-ups for #ParisRoubaix, there sure is plenty to drool over for bicycle nerds like me in this year's edition of the iconic race on #cobblestones. Typical modifications include 28mm tires and double-wrapped handlebar tape plus reinforced bottle cages with added sand paper to hold the bottles securely. #cycling
Teams that use #discbrakes can go to 30mm or even 32mm tires as well, offering more protection from punctures plus better control and less fatigue induced by the rattling on #cobblestones. I've ridden 12 secteurs pavés and 70kms of the course 3 years ago with #Merida when they launched their SculturaDisc bikes. Quite an impressive experience. #ParisRoubaix
