Well!
We may be entering a new renaissance in a way
The advent of the internet is the first time in human history that near-instantaneous communication was possible and actually give rise to a cultural and linguistic revolution
Baby names are just a tiny fragment of that
Despite all the negative things that technology, and even the internet, has allowed, I believe the human race is about to enter a golden age
We鈥檙e able to talk to each other on a scale not previously possible. That makes not a melting pot, but a pervasive cloud of experiences that is priceless and vast
Of all the shortcomings we have as a species, our ability to find differences is the hardest to surmount as it鈥檚 an innate tribalism
Tribes have moved online, and at times, we are at our worst when we can鈥檛 see the focus of our ire
But in as many or more ways we鈥檙e separate, unique, and tribal, we鈥檙e linked by our insatiable desire to communicate
If you read this, you鈥檙e a human with a lot more in common with me and everyone I know than you are different
@ShaunBartone @shaunbartone It鈥檚 certainly a drastic change from the accepted reality that they鈥檙e used to
I think it鈥檚 still important to consider that harsh criticism of otherwise reasonable (and necessary) changes to society are not necessarily because those people are evil. Sometimes, they鈥檙e just disoriented and afraid
@rick_777 I wonder what other resources exist for generating random names for writers
I imagine it's hard to come up with originals (or at least those that feel original). I know sometimes the name of a character has taken me out of the story if it's all too mundane
