I'm seeing random posts from people i don't follow in "Local timeline." Does this change over time with the people I follow?
@MrHodl I think that represents the instance you're connected to...I saw this tweet in mine for example because I am also @ mastodon.social
@hollowring @MrHodl correct, local timeline is all public toots from the same instance. Global timeline is all poblic toots from anyone that someone on your instance follows even if they're on another instance.
@harding @hollowring What are your thoughts about everyone running a instance? Or is that overkill?
@MrHodl @hollowring I think it's critical for users to be *able* to run their own instances without too much hassle, but it's not required that they do so. I'm planning to setup an instance for myself in the near future, but mostly just for fun and a custom domain.
@harding @MrHodl @hollowring Hey so.. what’s the best mastodon client for iOS so far? I’ve waded through GON but it for example doesn’t seem to have any settings-changing screens..
@midnightmagic @MrHodl @hollowring CCing @chrispalasz who was looking for an iPhone app a few days ago; dunno if he found one: https://mastodon.social/@chrispalasz/100481063605494353
@harding @midnightmagic @MrHodl @hollowring I’m using “Tootdon” for my iphone. Have not compared with other but it’s pretty good. No problems so far. So I’d recommend it
@midnightmagic @harding @MrHodl @hollowring I use Tootdon right now. No complaints so far but it’s a bit obtuse on the notifications. (It sorta forgets to tell you there are any.)
