This morning has been derailed by my server responding to incoming emails with:

452 4.3.1 Insufficient system storage

After the initial surprise (there should be >500GB free!), I learned that #znapzend behaves differently wrt source snapshot cleanup based on whether an *unavailable* destination is enabled or not. Dst disabled? Delete src snapshot per retention policy. Dst enabled? Skip src deletion completely.

~2 months of 15-minutely snapshots take a while get deleted 🤦‍♂️ #sysadmin

@tomtoom c'est pour gérer les sauvegardes ou juste tes datasets?

J'utilise #znapzend pour automatiser mes snapshots et mes backups #zfs pour #liberta

@nixCraft Yes, #ZFS is so stable and reliable. I use #znapzend to automatically send snapshots to my backup servers. https://www.znapzend.org/
ZnapZend - open source ZFS backup with mbuffer and ssh support

@papertigers
I am curious if there is a specific reason why you want to use #zrepl?

(I am happily using #znapzend for a few years now)
