Very much Sunday Morning vibes - did this a few days ago, as it passed the 550 day mark since he died...he was a librarian and socialist so 'A Design For Life' definitely reminds me of him.
And this is for the Crumplbangers Discord Challlenge which you have to make a mash of two or more sources from the XFM's Best 1000 Songs list, published 2010 so there's a LOT of Snow Patrol (and err...Starsailor, that has not aged well).
Always wanted to do a mash with A Design for Life - he's singing OOK and not going to fix it, anyway I like the rawness against the very smooth (but obviously talking about medicinal cigarettes) voice of him from Snow Patrol.
Instamatic - A Design Run For Life (550 Days) (Manic Street Preachers vs Snow Patrol) This is for the XFM 1000 Songs Challenge on the Crumplbangers Discord. One for XFM's The Remix - call Eddy TM! (he's actually on TikTok nowadays. He played one of my mashups once.) Snow Patrol liked mashups so much, they once turned up to Bastard as they were recording around the corner. I wasn't there that month....a lot of the instrumentals and accapellas came direct from the band, but the instrumental I found sounded odd so used extractions. Not much to say apart from John was a librarian, and it has been 550 Days, 18 months. Design For Life is a song that makes me think of him, he was a socialist, the themes mesh. Also both songs are about getting wasted - Run is so obviously about recreational cigarettes I dunno how Leona Lewis ever covered it, and Design is about a lot of things but most definitely about getting drunk.
