#GreatAlbums1990s – #Pavement - #WoweeZowee (1995). Although it hangs in the shadows of its two predecessors, WZ was prime Pavement at a time they’d “improved” enough to vary the mood more than haphazardly. “Rattled by the Rush” and “Half a Canyon” are heavier than ever before, while “Grounded” is one of Malkmus’s great outsider anthems. The fractured country-rock of tunes like “Father to a Sister of Thought” is like Music from Big Pink for the nineties.
