Inspiring words from Brent Bailey at #wordhack

Planning to attend #Wordhack at #Wonderville in Brooklyn this evening: https://www.wonderville.nyc/events/wordhack-april-2023

Gonna feature a "Twitterbot memorial lecture" from some luminaries in that dearly departed field.

I attended Wordhack a few months ago, loved it, and resolved to present one of my own Twitter bots during the "open projector" at the next event. And then, of course, the bot got dead, before I could even archive its output. So... this will feel aptly bittersweet for me.

I'm not following this very well, sorry! #wordHack

It's about cyberfeminism, and in particular, the attempt to make a physical book documenting the movement

People often assumed that the webpage was the final form of the thing

"neutrality is just a mask that complicity wears in public"

And Cowboy Jobe's sermon is about the intrinsically political nature of art

"You can't take belief out of art any more than you can take sun outta a flower."

and i think this is a diatribe against Death of the Author?

or at any rate you need to care about the context of art's creation, such as the funk music Jobe plays, which is Black to the roots and so a white guy playing it is political
