24hr strike at unimelb today. I'm striking against casualisation, centralisation and consultancy culture. And I'm striking for better working and learning conditions, for colleagues and students, and for the future of the University #whyimstriking

Also, I get to hang out with young people again! ;-)

In solidarity with colleagues across the UK today and tomorrow, I will be observing the #digitalpicket (i.e. no posts on work/research-related matters)

If you're still active on the Birdsite, I encourage you to read the #WhyImStriking tweets from previous strikes for further insight on why UK academics are returning to picket lines

Biggest ever university strike begins in fight over pay, pensions & conditions

Over 70,000 staff at 150 universities across the UK begin three days of strike action over attacks on pay, working conditions and pensions. The strike is the biggest in the history of higher education and UCU is predicting historic turnout on its picket lines.
