this is a fantastic version of five-o by james. jim plays a hell of a bassline. it consists of all 16th notes with accents on particular beats. jim's hand does not stop for a second except for the interludes. the violin and bass make love in the beginning as well.

this is such a beautiful song from james. in an interview, the singer tim booth told a story about how some fans used this song to maintain the strength they needed to escape from their christian fundamentalist cult family. the line, "i no longer feel my god is watching over me" was what kept these kids going, ending in the son punching the father in the face as the daughter escaped out the window.

one of the most beautiful songs ever written. it's about the death of the singer's mom and how he was rushing to see her before she passed away. it will forever remind me of doing the same before my father died. the music video is absolutely brilliant, indicating death as rebirth #wearejames #james #music
fuck i love this band. this was the show we attended in 2010. we had bought tickets knowing the music and figuring, "let's check them out."
we came out of that concert wide eyed and stunned at what we'd experienced. it was so fucking good, magical even. it was that night which turned us into james obsessives. here's a video of sometimes from 930 club and it gives me all of the feels.
