The perfect bike ride doesn't exi....
Spot the moment when I was overtaken on the sprint by a car, that then braked because UNLIKE ME it couldn't pass between the parked car and the Surprise Oncoming Car That Nobody Could Have Planned For π€π
First rear wheel lock-up on the new bike π¬ 35 kph to 0, in 2 car lengths.
Ah well I missed the strong easterlies this week, I hope they return soon. All the good times on this road are, of course, set with tailwind. Like 20% faster. I'll just have to do my all out effort earlier before the traffic wakes up.
very pleased to have remembered my friend Andy's training about how to grease a bike bottom bracket. From 6.30am clicking to 8pm smooth.
Except I forgot the important step of prising off the seals of the bearings themselves and greasing the races, so it's still clicking under load π€¦ββοΈ
Job for tomorrow evening!
Messaged Andy anyway to say how much I appreciate the training.
Hypothetically, were I employed, today I'd send in my Cycle to Work Scheme quote for approval.
Six chains, five tyres, two wheels, two gear cables, a cassette, a helmet.
Save three tyres and a chain, based on past performance I reckon all that will be consumed by actual commuting.
To 50% Ords on the way home from work, to collect some parts. Most of it "fitted" in the pannier bag but I was left with 2 boxed folding tyres, so after carrying them out of the shop so I didn't look too dodgy, I stuffed them down the front of my jersey for the ride home like two enormous oblong breasts.

<starts to remove bicycle pedal crank following Shimano manual>
Hey it's not quite coming off.
<a few minutes of tugging pass>
It's like something is stopping it
<a few minutes pass>
<checks manual>
"blah blah blah ... stopper plate."
I wonder if hat's stopping it.
<lifts stopper plate>
Hey, the stopper plate was stopping it.
