đŸ—ș Recently I read “The Politics of Design” by R. Pater (@untoldstories). It indicates how biased design habits are & collects examples in categories like Language/Typography (e.g. mimic Arabic logos after Latin ones), Photography (e.g. editing pictures to appear more diverse), Icons (e.g. fork & knife as a worldwide symbol for restaurant). An eye-opening book – although the binding is tight and a few pages are hard to read. // Typeface: Swiss Text & Akzident Grotesk. #typobook #typobuch #design
𝕋 “Dutch Type” by Jan Middendorp provides an interesting mixture of biographies, epoch descriptions, and typeface background. Personally I find it somehow hard to read (small type size? heavyness of the book? language level?) but nevertheless inspiring and informative to page through. #typobook #typobuch
∘ In summer 2000 @johndberry began writing short articles for a web portal and later published them as two „Dot-font“ books. Topics were the redesign of Sabon as Sabon Next, the arise of humanist sans fonts, thoughts on designing books and many more. The articles (without illustrations) can also be read for free on http://dot-font.com/ #typobook #typobuch

#typobuch #typobook
