Really admire the work Coach Hurts put into the Channelview program during his time there. He worked really hard for those kids.

In my early days of covering #txhsfb, I got to see Dez Bryant play at Lufkin. I was in awe. The size, the speed, everything. He was probably the first high school player I covered in-person who made me think "he's gonna play on Sundays."

Despite all the "big programs" in the Metroplex, the big players in this game went to the following HS:

FW Arlington Heights (Woolen)
Rockwall (JSN)
The Colony (Gonzalez)

Jimmy, Joes, etc.

One of the best representations of DFW & #TXHSFB football dominance is sweeping the #NFL MVP, OPOY, & DPOY in 2025.

What makes it even more impressive, is that they come from three vastly different timelines and span three different decades of HS graduation classes (00’s/10’s/20’s).

MVP: Matthew Stafford - Highland Park (2006)
DPOY: Myles Garrett - Arl. Martin (2014)
OPOY: Jaxon Smith-Njigba- Rockwall (2020)

They never played each other, didn’t come from the same district. Instead, they watched and learned from the classes before them. Just showcases the continued excellence achieved by such a talented area.

Broncos WR Courtland Sutton scored the first touchdown of championship Sunday, Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez sealed the first game and Jaxon Smith-Njigba might have the best play of the weekend.

Congrats to Willie Gaston on leading North Shore to a state title, his first as head coach.
