Princess Deria placed in his hands a private letter from her father, Prince Nymor. Aegon read it upon the Iron Throne, and men say that when he rose, his hand was bleeding, so hard had he clenched it. He burned the letter and departed immediately on Balerion’s back for Dragonstone. When he returned the next morning, he agreed to the peace and signed a treaty to that effect.

But that is not the way of House Dayne. The wielder of Dawn is always given the title of Sword of the Morning, and only a knight of House Dayne who is deemed worthy can carry it.

Does Dawn become more magical if it is carried by a knight who is NOT worthy of it?

Even among the ironborn there are some who... acknowledge the more widely accepted view of an ancient descent from the First Men—even though the First Men, unlike the later Andals, were never a seafaring people. Certainly, we cannot seriously accept the assertions of the ironborn priests, who would have us believe that the ironmen are closer kin to fish and merlings than the other races of mankind.

#ASoIaF I noticed that we never talk about the role the Greyjoys played in there not being any Starks at Winterfell when we have been told that there must always be a Stark in Winterfell. I always found it interesting that especially Theon's actions may be a catalyst for something nasty while his Crow's Eye uncle is ready to unleash who knows what in the south. And there's Victarion with the dragonhorn in Meereen. Should probably revisit the entries about the ironborn in #TWoIaF

I cobbled together a timeline for the first Long Night using all the stories we know about it from #ASoIaF and #TWoIaF and it gives something kind of coherent, I think.
