Varys doesn't want Ned to be executed, while Pycelle is pushing for it, knowing full well that Ned is not a traitor. This brings to mind Pycelle counselling Aerys to open his gates to Tywin's army while Varys is telling him not to.
But the very best part is Jon going atop the Wall following his nightmare & walking it until he saw the light of the dawn off to the east.
This is such an underrated moment in the & very similar to what happens after Sam kills the Other in ASoS. He & Grenn see the first light of dawn.
Sam I, ASoS 18 is an underrated chapter. The symbolisms, the themes, the small scale battle for the dawn with the Azor Ahai imagery, the killing of the Other with the dragonglass is off the charts good.
Even when Ghost leapt up the bed to nuzzle at his face, he could not shake the deep sense of terror. He dared not go back to sleep. Instead he had climbed the Wall and walked, restless, until he saw the light of the dawn off to the east.
This dream takes place the night before Jafer and Othor Flowers bodies are found and their attack on Castle Black during night. The dream seems to foreshadow what will happen.
